I'm New Here

What to expect when you worship with us on Sunday — a warm Presbyterian welcome awaits you.

Karibu — welcome to PCEA Nkoroi!

We are delighted that you are considering worshipping with us. Whether you are new to the area, new to the Presbyterian family, or simply curious about church, you are welcome — come as you are.

What is a PCEA Service Like?

Presbyterian worship is ordered — one of the gifts of our tradition. A typical Sunday service lasts about ninety minutes to two hours and flows like this:

  1. Call to worship & opening prayer — the minister or an elder calls the congregation to worship, often with a verse of Scripture.
  2. Hymns & choir ministry — a rich mix of classic hymns, Kiswahili and vernacular choruses, led by the choir and praise team.
  3. Prayers — adoration, confession, thanksgiving and intercession for the church, the community and the nation.
  4. Scripture readings — from both the Old and New Testaments, read aloud.
  5. The sermon — the centre of Presbyterian worship: substantial, Bible-anchored preaching applied to everyday life.
  6. The offering & tithes — given as an act of worship; visitors are under no obligation.
  7. Announcements, welcome of visitors & benediction.

Three Services, One Family

  • English Service — 8:00 – 10:00 am
  • Youth Service — 9:00 – 11:00 am
  • Kiswahili Service — 10:00 am – 12:00 noon

Common Questions

  • What should I wear? Most members dress smart-casual; women in the Guild often wear their white headscarves and Guild uniform on Guild Sundays. Come as you are comfortable — you will not be turned away.
  • What about my children? Children are loved and welcome. Church School runs during the services with classes for every age, and the Boys’ & Girls’ Brigade meets on Sunday afternoons.
  • Will I be asked to give money? No. Tithes and offerings are given by our members as an act of worship — visitors are our guests.
  • Do I need to bring anything? Just yourself. If you have a Bible, bring it — our ushers can also lend you one.

Introduce yourself to an usher or elder after service — visitors are welcomed during announcements, and we would love to pray with you. You can also join a fellowship group — Guild, PCMF, Youth or Brigade — to feel at home quickly.
